Dixons stores to be rebranded

Dixons stores across the UK are to be rebranded under new plans announced today.

The owner of the electrical retailer, DSG international, said that they would begin the initial conversion of all 190 Dixons stores to Currys.digital from May.

DSG said that all Dixons staff would be expected to transfer to Currys.

The Dixons name will be retained and used for the company's internet retailing operations.

However, six Dixons stores in the Republic of Ireland and 21 tax-free airport stores will not be affected by the change.

DSG said that the change would allow the stores to offer a wider range of products and services, while keeping a focus on digital technology.

DSG said that the change was expected to cost around £7 million, but was expected to deliver annual savings of around £3 million.

Dixons existing internet retailing business has grown by 50% each year for the last four years and the site gets around a million visitors per month.
