Man bailed over Mohammed cartoon protest
A man charged over protests against cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed has been granted bail.
Mizanhur Rahman, 23, from Edmonton, north London, was charged with soliciting murder and inciting racial hatred in protests outside the Danish Embassy in London on February 3.
The father-of-one was granted conditional bail at Bow Street Magistrates' Court on Monday. He was ordered to surrender his British passport and his family also had to provide a £15,000 surety.
The cartoons, one of which depicted Mohammed wearing a bomb-shaped turban, were originally published last September in a Danish newspaper. However, the reprinting of the cartoons in several European newspapers earlier this year sparked a series of violent protests around the world.
