Police 'delighted' with response to child rape inquiry
Police investigating the rape of an eleven-year-old girl in a supermarket toilet have said that they are "delighted" with the response from the public.
Warwickshire Police said that they had received more than 100 calls since posters showing an artist's impression of the attacker were posted around the area where the attack took place.
The young girl was assaulted in the ladies' toilets of Sainsbury's supermarket in the Shires Retail Park in Leamington Spa last Thursday evening.
Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Pearson said: "I am delighted with the response to our appeal. We have received some very good information, which we are analysing. We have already been able to seek out many of those males potentially identified as the attacker and we will continue to do so over the coming days. But I urge the public to keep that information coming - your information is still vital."
The attacker is described as a white teenager with dark brown hair and red inflamed spots on his face. He was wearing a black anorak-style hooded top with a red front and silver reflective piping and a grey top underneath. Strands of hair were protruding from the hood of the jacket.
Anyone who was in the Sainsbury's store around the time of the attack - which took place around 7pm - and has any information is asked to contact police on: 01926 415994 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
Rewards totalling £30,000 have been offered in order to find the attacker.
