Lorry found in Kent robbery investigation

Police investigating the £53 million robbery at the Securitas depot in Tonbridge, Kent, have recovered a lorry they believe may have been used during the raid.

Detectives had been trying to trace a 7.7 tonne Renault Midlum lorry, which was used in last Wednesday's robbery. The vehicle recovered today is now being examined by forensic experts.

Kent Police also confirmed that a woman has been arrested in connection with the investigation. Four men are also continuing to be questioned by police, while seven other people have been released on bail.

Farmland in Staplehurst in Kent is also being searched and the search is also believed to be related to the robbery investigation.

Earlier today, images of cars similar to those used to kidnap depot manager Colin Dixon and his family were released. The cars were a silver Nissan Almera, similar to that owned by Mr Dixon, and a Volvo type car, which was used by the gang to abduct Mr Dixon near a lay-by on the A249 near Stockbury, close to the Three Squirrels pub, last Tuesday night.

Police will also be conducting road checks at key sites linked to the robbery, the kidnap of Mr Dixon and the kidnap of his wife and son at their home in Herne Bay.

Assistant Chief Constable Adrian Leppard said that more than 1,300 calls had been received from the public and urged anyone with any information to contact police.

Anyone with any information can contact the hotline numbers on: 01622 652361 or 01622 652366 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
