Man who killed parents is jailed for life
A man who murdered both his parents has been sentenced to life imprisonment at Bristol Crown Court.
Michael Clarke, 21, stabbed his parents - Milroy, 70 and Joan, 56 - to death at their home in Melksham, Wiltshire in December 2004.
During the trial, the court heard how the bank worker then travelled to a concert in London with friends, before returning home in the early hours of the following morning and pretending to have discovered the bodies.
Clarke had claimed that he had a perfect relationship with his parents. He had denied both murders.
At sentencing, Judge Christopher Pickford said that Clarke should serve at least 28 years in prison.
Another defendant, 22-year-old Stuart Painter, was also found not guilty of assisting an offender. The university student had been charged with helping Clarke to dispose of evidence, including the murder weapon.
