Pair face sentencing for Thailand murder
Two Thai fishermen are awaiting sentence for the rape and murder of British tourist Katherine Horton.
Bualoi Posit, 23 and Wichai Somkhaoyai, 24, pleaded guilty to the charges against them at the court in Surat Thani in southern Thailand.
The case has now been adjourned until Wednesday, when the men will face sentencing. The maximum sentence for the charges is the death penalty.
During the one-day trial, the court heard from eight prosecution witnesses. The court heard how the two men were allegedly drinking and watching pornographic films, on the evening of New Year's Day, before they assaulted Miss Horton on the beach on the island of Koh Samui.
Miss Horton, a 21-year-old student from Cardiff, had been walking along the beach talking to her mother on her mobile phone when she was attacked.
A post-mortem revealed that she had been beaten before being dragged into the sea where she drowned.
Her body was found in the sea the next morning.
Miss Horton, a psychology student at Reading University, had travelled to Thailand on holiday with a friend from university.
Her funeral will take place in Cardiff on Tuesday.
