Two arrested over PC murder

Two men have been arrested in Birmingham in connection with the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky.

The men were arrested in connection with firearms offences, following a joint operation between West Yorkshire and West Midlands Police on Thursday morning.

The men are being held for questioning in Birmingham.

The arrests come just one day after PC Besehnivsky's funeral, which was held at Bradford Cathedral.

The 38-year-old mother of three and stepmother of two was shot dead when she went to investigate a robbery at the Universal Express Travel Agents in Morley Street, Bradford on November 18 last year.

Her colleague, Teresa Milburn, 37, was also injured during the shooting.

Two men have already appeared in court charged with PC Beshenivsky's murder. Yusuf Jama, 19, and Muzzaker Imtiaz Shah, 24, are due to stand trial later this year.

Police are still trying to trace another suspect, Mr Jama's brother Mustaf Jama, 25, in connection with the shooting.

He is believed to have links with Sheffield, Birmingham, Coventry and Leicester, although police said that he could be anywhere in the country.

Rewards totalling £90,000 have been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the crime.
