Britain braced for heavy rain and strong winds
Motorists have been urged to take extra care on Britain's roads as strong winds and heavy rain have been forecast for many parts of the country today.
Northern England is expected to be the worst affected area, with the Met Office predicting gusts of 60mph in some places.
Heavy rains and spray are also expected to cause problems with reduced visibility for motorists.
The Highways Agency has warned drivers to slow down and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front. Anyone driving high-sided vehicles, towing caravans or travelling on motorbikes are also urged to take extra care.
Drivers are also advised to check the latest information on weather and road conditions before they set off and during their journey.
