Police question PC shooting suspect
Police are continuing to question a suspect arrested yesterday in connection with the shooting of PC Sharon Beshenivsky.
Muzzaker Imtiaz Shah, 24, was arrested following an armed siege in Newport, south Wales. A 23-year-old man was also arrested.
Both suspects were taken to West Yorkshire where they are being questioned.
PC Beshenivsky was shot dead during a robbery in Bradford on November 18. Her colleague PC Teresa Milburn was injured.
West Yorkshire Police are continuing to search for another suspect, Mustaf Jama, 25. His brother, nineteen-year-old Yusuf Jama, has already appeared in court, charged with PC Beshenivsky’s murder.
The search for Mr Jama will feature on tonight’s ‘Crimewatch’ programme on BBC 1.
Police believe that Mustaf Jama has links with Sheffield, Birmingham, Coventry and Leicester, although they said that they “are not ruling out” the possibility that he could be anywhere in the country.
Detective Superintendent Andy Brennan, who is leading the investigation, said: “There will be people watching Crimewatch tonight who may have seen Mustaf Jama, or know where he is. They may also have information about people who may be assisting him. I’d urge them to come forward as soon as possible. It is vital that we speak with this man as part of our enquiries.”
Rewards totalling £90,000 have been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder.
Anyone with information can ring Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111 or the Incident Room on: 01274 373700.
