Plane crash in Tehran kills all aboard

An Iranian military flight has crashed in a built-up suburb of Tehran killing all 94 aboard.

The explosion and resulting fire in the block of flats in the residential Yaftabad area of western Tehran has resulted in an unknown death toll as rescue services attempt to search the location for bodies.

Reports from Tehran indicate that around 25 people have been killed on the ground with many more injured.

It is understood that the plane - a C-130 transport - experienced technical difficulties shortly after take-off and may have been attempting to make an emergency landing at Mehrabad airport.

A group of reporters and a film crew are believed to have been among those onboard the flight, but this has not been confirmed.
