Reward offered to catch PC killers
Crimestoppers has offered a £50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killers of PC Sharon Beshenivsky.
PC Beshenivsky, a 38-year-old mother-of-three with two stepchildren, was shot dead by armed robbers as she went to answer a call at a travel agency in Bradford on November 18.
Her colleague, PC Theresa Milburn, was also shot in the shoulder during the incident.
One man has been arrested in connection with her murder. Yusuf Jama, 19, from north Kensington, London, was arrested during a raid at a house in Birmingham on Saturday morning.
He is currently being held at an undisclosed police station in West Yorkshire, where he is being questioned. On Monday, magistrates granted police a further 36 hours to question him.
Police are still continuing to hunt for Mr Jama’s brother, 25-year-old Mustaf Jama, also from north Kensington and Muzzaker Imtiaz Shah, 24, originally from Burnley, in connection with the shooting.
Police said that there was no indication that either of the men had left the country.
Detective Superintendent Andy Brennan, from West Yorkshire Police, welcomed the announcement of the Crimestoppers reward and said he believed there were people who knew the whereabouts of those who had committed the crime.
He said: “It may be that you have some information which will help us but, for whatever reason, you are unsure about coming forward. If you ring Crimestoppers, you do not have to leave your name and your call will be completely anonymous. If your information leads to the conviction of the people responsible for this crime then you could claim this reward.”
Five men arrested in London the day after the shooting have all been released on bail, pending further inquiries. An 18-year-old woman who was also arrested was later released without charge.
Anyone with any information regarding the shooting of PC Beshenivsky is asked to contact police on: 01274 373700 or Crimsetoppers on: 0800 555 111.
