Hunt continues for two PC shooting suspects
Police investigating the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky are continuing to hunt for two suspects, following the arrest of a suspect at the weekend.
Yusuf Jama, 19, from north Kensington, London, was arrested during a raid at a house in Birmingham on Saturday morning.
Mr Jama is currently being held at an undisclosed police station in West Yorkshire, where he is being questioned by police.
Police are still continuing to hunt for Mr Jama’s brother, 25-year-old Mustaf Jama, also from north Kensington, and Muzzaker Imtiaz Shah, 24, originally from Burnley, in connection with the shooting.
PC Beshenivsky, a 38-year-old mother-of-three with two stepchildren, was shot dead by armed robbers as she answered a call to a travel agency in Bradford.
Her colleague, PC Theresa Milburn, was wounded in the shoulder during the incident.
On Friday, police revealed the identities of the suspects and details of a vehicle – a silver Toyota Rav 4 –, which is believed to have been used by the robbers.
Police said that there was no indication that any of the suspects had tried to leave the country.
All ports and airports have been provided with details of the suspects.
Five men were arrested in London last weekend, but were released early last week on bail, pending further inquiries. An eighteen-year-old woman was also arrested, but was later released without charge.
Anyone with any information about the shooting of PC Beshenivsky is asked to contact police on: 01274 373700.
