Nationwide hunt launched for PC shooting suspects
A nationwide search has been launched to find three suspects wanted in connection with the killing of PC Sharon Beshenivsky.
Police confirmed that they are now actively seeking three suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of the 38-year-old and have issued details of the suspects to police forces across the country.
It is understood that the identities of two of the suspects are known to police.
Ports and airports have also been alerted in the hunt for the suspects, who are not among the six people arrested over the weekend, who have all since been released.
PC Beshenivsky, a 38-year-old mother of three with two stepchildren, was shot dead by armed robbers as she arrived to answer a call at a travel agency in Bradford on Friday afternoon.
She had been a constable for just nine months.
Her colleague, PC Teresa Milburn, 37, was also wounded in the shoulder.
Police have also issued details of a vehicle – a silver Toyota Rav 4 with the registration number WP05 YTT – which is believed to have been used in Friday’s robbery.
The vehicle is now in the possession of the police and is being examined by forensic teams.
It is understood that the vehicle was hired at Heathrow Airport on October 25 and it travelled to West Yorkshire from London on November 18 – the day of the robbery – returning to the capital again later that evening.
Police have asked for anyone who saw the vehicle on the day of the shooting, and anyone with information on the occupants to contact them.
Five men, aged between 18 and 24, arrested in connection with the investigation on Saturday, were released on bail on Monday, pending further inquiries, while an eighteen-year-old woman was also released without charge. A 31-year-old man was released on bail on Tuesday.
Metropolitan Police are assisting West Yorkshire Police in the investigation.
Anyone with any information regarding the investigation is asked to contact police on: 01274 373700.
