Ferry slipway plunge – woman identified
A woman who died after her car plunged from a ferry slipway has been identified.
Helen Hogan, 30, from Bournemouth, died when her car plunged into the water at Poole, in Dorset on Sunday evening.
A post-mortem examination revealed that she died from hypothermia. An inquest into her death was opened on Tuesday and adjourned until a later date.
Crew on board the Sandbanks Ferry had reported seeing a car plunge into the water on the Poole side of the ferry by the North Haven slipway around 8pm on Sunday night.
The Coastguard helicopter rescued Mrs Hogan after an hour-long search in the area. She was winched to safety and was given resuscitation on board the helicopter before being taken to Poole Hospital. However, it was announced on Monday morning that she had died in hospital.

Couple Killed In Car Cliff Plunge
A man and a woman have been killed after their car plunged 100 metres over a cliff on the Isle of Wight. Police were called to Culver Down, near Bembridge, around 8pm on Wednesday following reports of a crash. Emergency services retrieved two bodies from a blue car, which was found at the bottom of the cliffs.

Four female passengers have survived after their car plunged 30 metres down a cliff into a swimming pool. The Nissan Note hatchback veered off the road crashing through a clifftop fence in North Tyneside, ending up in disused outdoor pool at 12.15am. The women walked away with only minor injuries - to the amazement of their friends.

A father who threw his two children off a balcony, killing his young son, has gained permission to appeal against an inquest verdict of unlawful killing. John Hogan, 34, of Bradley Stoke, South Gloucestershire, was cleared of the murder of his six-year-old son Liam, by a Greek court in January.
