Baby joy for Abigail Witchalls

Abigail Witchalls, who was left paralysed after being stabbed in the neck earlier this year, has given birth to a baby boy.

Abigail 26, gave birth to the baby at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, south London, on Friday afternoon.

Abigail, 26, was stabbed in the neck as she walked home with her toddler son Joseph in Little Bookham, Surrey on April 20 this year.

She was left paralysed after the attack and it was initially feared that she would not survive. However, her condition began to improve while she was being treated at the Spinal Cord Injury Centre at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, north London.

She was allowed to return home last week, after undergoing six months of treatment for the injuries she sustained in the attack.

It was revealed that Abigail was pregnant, two months after the attack.

A spokesperson for St George’s Hospital said: “Abigail and Benoit Witchalls are delighted to announce the birth of a healthy baby boy weighing 5lbs and 6oz.

“The delivery went very well and mother and baby are doing fine.”
