Britain basks in record temperatures
The UK is basking in sunshine as the country enjoys the warmest October 27 on record.
Temperatures have risen as high as 21c in some parts of the country, beating the previous record of 20.3c, which was recorded in London in 1888. However, temperatures are expected to rise as high as 23c in some parts of the country.
It is the warmest day in late October since 1969, when temperatures of 22.8c were recorded on October 26.
The mini-heatwave is believed to have been triggered by winds from North Africa drawing warm air to the UK.
However, the unusually warm weather is not expected to stay, with rain expected tomorrow.
The one-day heatwave follows Met Office warnings that Britain could face one of the coldest winters in a decade this year.

Heatwave warning as temperatures soar
The government has issued a heatwave warning as parts of England look set to bask in temperatures rising above 30C until Wednesday. The Met Office has raised the Heat-Health alert to Level 3, the first time this level has been reached since the service was started in 2004.

Today will see the last of the unseasonable high temperatures, with even frost predicted in Scotland by the end of the current week. The autumn solstice has already occurred - albeit in the midst of a virtual heat wave last week - as a new record temperature for October of 29.4C (84.92F) was set yesterday.

Heatwave to lead to thunderstorms, forecasters predict
The sweltering temperatures in Britain are set to give way to thunderstorms in some parts of the country, forecasters have predicted. Temperatures in London and the south east of England were predicted to reach as high as 32C.

Met Office Records Hottest Temperatures Since 2006
The Met Office has recorded the hottest temperatures since 2006 in England. Data taking today 1 July in parts of the southeast and central areas of the UK have seen temperatures rise over 30 degrees. Other regions have already experienced 34 degrees, with London expected to reach 35 or 36 degrees.
