Schoolgirl slashed in face in classroom attack
A 12-year-old girl slashed across the face by a fellow pupil in a classroom attack has been allowed home.
Shanni Naylor, who said today that she wanted to return to school, could be scarred for life, following the attack, which took place during an English class at Myrtle Springs School in Sheffield on Wednesday afternoon.
A 12-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with the attack and has been released on bail until December.
Shanni required 30 stitches in the two wounds she received in the attack – one running from her hairline right down her left cheek, and the other running from just under her right eye and down her right cheek.
It is believed that Shanni was attacked because the previous day she had confronted the girl who was bullying another pupil.
It is thought that a blade, possibly from a pencil sharpener, was used in the slash attack.
