E-coli cases on the increase in Wales
There has been an increasing number of e-coli cases in Wales with 22 identified in the last few days.
Environmental Health Officers are interviewing all close contacts of the cases, as part of a wider in-depth investigation to identify the potential source.
An outbreak control team including officers of the Local Authorities, National Public Health Service and local hospitals is meeting today to oversee the investigations and ensure that the cause of the outbreak is understood and that remedial action is taken as soon as possible.
Head teachers of the schools where pupils have been cases have been contacted and advised to: ensure good personal hygiene with pupils; suspend activities that can facilitate spread of the germs – sand/water play, play with plasticine and cookery activities; ensure thorough cleaning following incidents involving diarrhoea or vomiting in their school and only serve hot cooked meals at lunchtimes.
Parents of pupils in schools where there have been cases have been contacted and advised to ensure their children use good personal hygiene.

One Step Closer For Live Broadcasting In Courts
Live television broadcasting in courts, for the first time, is one step closer after receiving final approval in the House of Commons. From next month broadcasting will be allowed for criminal and civil cases in the Court of Appeal, where filming will be allowed of the legal arguments and the final judgment.

More UK Swine Flu Cases Confirmed
Four more people in the UK have tested positive for swine flu, according to the Health Protection Agency (HPA). The new cases are all associated with travel from Mexico, and they are adults from the north-west, east, West Midlands and East Midlands areas in England. The new cases takes the number of those affected in the UK to 32.

Measles Outbreak Now Over 800 Cases
The ongoing measles outbreak in Swansea has now increased to 808 cases. 43 more cases of the disease have been reported since Tuesday, Public Health Wales (PHW) has said. An MMR vaccination campaign was launched in schools in parts of mid and south Wales, but local health officials have said the campaign had got off to a "disappointing" start.
