Eighth suspect arrested over Anthony Walker murder
Police have confirmed that an eighth man has been arrested in connection with the murder of teenager Anthony Walker.
Merseyside Police confirmed that a 20-year-old man from Huyton, Liverpool, was arrested on Tuesday morning.
Two men appeared in court on Tuesday, charged with Anthony’s murder. Paul Taylor, 20, and Michael Barton, 17, were remanded in custody at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday.
The pair, who also face charges of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm, are expected to stand trial in November or January.
Five other men arrested in connection with Anthony’s murder have been released on bail.
Eighteen-year-old Anthony died after being attacked with an axe in McGoldrick Park in Huyton last month.
His funeral, which is open to the public, is due to take place at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral on Thursday. It is expected to attract a large number of people.
Around 3,000 people attended a memorial service in Huyton a week after Anthony was killed.
