Man arrested over bus stabbing death
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Richard Whelan on a London bus last week.
The 28-year-old was stabbed after confronting another passenger on the bus, who was shouting and throwing food at other passengers.
Mr Whelan and his girlfriend boarded the number 43 bus in Islington, north London last Friday night at the same time as his attacker.
The man began shouting and throwing food at other passengers, and when he began to harass Mr Whelan’s partner, he intervened.
The man then stabbed Mr Whelan several times, before getting off the bus.
Mr Whelan died later in hospital.
Police said that a 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing in Surrey on Friday morning. He is being questioned at a London police station.

Man remanded over bus murder
A man has appeared in court, accused of the murder of a man on a London bus. Anthony Leon Joseph, 20, from Islington, north London, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, charged with the murder of twenty-eight-year-old Richard Whelan.

The paranoid schizophrenic has admitted stabbing a hospitality worker to death in a row that started on a bus after the killer threw chips at the victim and his friends.
