British man killed in Barbados robbery
A British man has been shot dead during an armed robbery in Barbados.
Twenty-year-old Daniel May, from Hornchurch, Essex, was killed as he struggled with armed intruders at the villa he was holidaying in with his father, Lindsay and mother, Anne, on Wednesday night.
It is understood that Mr May and his father both tackled the two robbers, who the family discovered in the luxury villa on the island’s west coast, after returning from a restaurant.
According to the Royal Barbados Police, the burglars escaped with a sum of cash after shooting Daniel a number of times.
It has been reported that one of the intruders is under police guard in hospital, where he is being treated for a stab wound.
The Foreign Office confirmed that next of kin had been informed and also said that the High Commission had offered assistance to the family.
