UK house price inflation falls
Annual house price inflation in the UK fell to 6% in May, a decrease from 6.9% in April, according to the latest figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM).
The inflation rate fell in all the home countries, dropping to 5.3% in England, 13.8% in Wales, 11.8% in Scotland and 9.3% in Northern Ireland.
The inflation rate also fell in all regions, except Yorkshire & the Humber. The highest inflation rates in England remained in the North, in Yorkshire & the Humber (12.3%), the North West (12.2%) and North East (11.1%). The lowest rate is in London, where inflation fell from 2.7% in April to 1.6% in May.
Mix-adjusted house prices rose by 0.5% between April and May 2005, compared with a rise of 1.3% during the same period in 2004.
The ODPM attributed the rise in UK prices mainly to the rise in prices of terraced and detached houses, which both increased by 1%. Apartment prices remained constant and the average prices of bungalows and semi-detached houses fell by 0.9% and 0.2% respectively.
The mix-adjusted average house price in the UK in May was £182,651, an increase from £181,832 in April. In England, mix-adjusted average house prices in May were £191,623, while in Wales they were £147,077, £124,422 in Scotland and £125,321 in Northern Ireland.
The English region with the highest average house price in May remained London at £264,505 ,while the region with the lowest average price was the North East at £130,474.

Annual house price inflation dropped again in October, according to the latest figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. House price inflation was 2.2% in October, a fall from September’s figure of 3.3%. The ODPM reported that the average house price in the UK was £186,103 in October, compared with £186,755 in September.

House price rise slowdown continues
Annual house price inflation in July was 4%, down from 5% in June according to figures released today by the Deputy Prime Minister's office. This drop in the growth of house prices pushed the annual house price inflation in London down to 0.9% in July 2005, a fall from the from 1.7% figure in June 2005.

Annual house price inflation dropped to 6.9% in April, a sharp fall from 12.6% in March, according to the latest figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM). The ODPM also reported a fall in mix-adjusted prices of 0.8% between March and April, which contrasted sharply with the 4.5% rise during the same period in 2004.

UK house prices fell by 0.5% between January and February, figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) have shown. The drop in prices, which saw the average house price in the UK in February fall to £179,491 from £180,465 in January, is smaller than the 1% fall reported in the same period last year.
