Man seriously injured after mock medieval weekend
Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured after being struck on the head during a medieval re-enactment display last weekend.
A 30-year-old man from Scotland was struck on the head with what was described as a “spear-type weapon”, during a battle re-enactment in the Twinwoods Arena, off Twinwoods Road, Clapham.
The man was taken to Bedford Hospital south wing, but was later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where he is described as being in a serious, but stable, condition.
Detective Sergeant John Walters said that the incident was not being treated as malicious, but stressed that police needed to have as complete a picture as possible.
Around 150 people took part in the re-enactment and hundreds of spectators attended the event. Police are especially keen to speak to anyone who may have captured the incident on video or camera.
DS Walters said that the other man involved in the incident had “co-operated fully” with police, but was “very distressed and shocked”.
