Woman found guilty over mincer murder
A woman has been found guilty of the murder of a man, whose body was fed through a domestic mincer.
Twenty-three-year-old Karen Morris, from Selly Park in Birmingham, was convicted of the murder of Nelvaughn Brade after her plea of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility was rejected.
At a previous hearing, Steve Parton, 39, a former male stripper from the Perry Barr area of the city, had already pleaded guilty to his part in Mr Brade’s murder.
Mr Brade, 22, who was lodging with Parton, was murdered on November 5 last year. He had been shot at with a crossbow, hit on the head repeatedly with an axe and stabbed.
The court was told how Morris and Parton dismembered Mr Brade’s body and put his flesh through a mincer, before packing the remains into two oil drums and driving over 100 miles to throw them on a skip. The contents of the skip were later dumped on a landfill site near King’s Lynn in Norfolk.
Following the murder, the couple attempted suicide, before handing themselves in to Hunstanton police station on November 11.
The court heard that there were a number of possible motives for the murder, including Parton’s belief that Mr Brade, who had been distributing cannabis for him, was planning to steal his crop of plants. They were also told that Ms Morris, who had had sex with Mr Brade, had accused him of threatening to stab or shoot her.
The couple are due to be sentenced later.
