Abigail to be quizzed on attacker’s car
Abigail Witchalls is to be interviewed by police again in order to try and identify the car used by her attacker.
Mrs Witchalls, 26, was left paralysed after she was attacked and stabbed in the neck in Little Bookham, Surrey, on April 20.
In her initial description of the attacker, she described him as driving a blue car.
Police are compiling a file on the main suspect in the case to be handed over to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
Twenty-three-year-old Richard Cazaly left Little Bookham to go to Scotland a few days after the attack on Abigail. He died of an apparent drug overdose shortly afterwards.
However, Abigail was unable to identify Mr Cazaly from a photo identity parade.
A new witness in the case – a woman who was riding her horse close to where the attack took place – is also to participate in a similar identification process, featuring the photograph of Mr Cazaly.
Detective Superintendent Adrian Harper said: “Abigail has shown great courage and determination following the attack, and has been extremely willing to help us, despite the strains placed on her by her current circumstances.”
Abigail is still being treated for the injuries she sustained in the attack, at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. A statement released by her family today said: “We are delighted at the progress Abigail has made since the attack eight weeks ago and we look to the future now with optimism that her condition will continue to improve.”
