Test reveal no DNA in Abigail Witchall's case
Police investigating the stabbing of Abigail Witchalls have been unable to find any new information in the case, following DNA tests on the buggy she was pushing on the day of the attack.
Surrey police conducted DNA tests on the buggy Abigail used to push along her 21-month-old son Joseph. However, the forensic tests, which were also carried out on several other items, failed to uncover any trace of the DNA from the two main suspects in the case.
Abigail was attacked in Little Bookham, Surrey, as she returned from a mothers and toddlers meeting on April 20. Her attacker stabbed her in the neck and the attack left her paralysed.
Police have so far questioned two suspects in connection with the case. One, 23-year-old Richard Cazaly died from an apparent overdose in Scotland at the end of April, after leaving the Little Bookham area just days after the attack on Abigail. The other suspect, a 25-year-old Surrey man, was arrested by police and questioned for two days about the attack, but was released without charge.
However, no trace of Abigail’s DNA was found on jeans worn by Mr Cazaly in tests carried out last month. A team of tracker dogs, brought in to search the area of the attack, also failed to uncover any new evidence.
Police are hoping to show Abigail a series of pictures – including one of Mr Cazaly – in the next few days.
