Man in court over fiancée and daughter murder

A 26-year-old man has appeared in court today charged with the double murder of his teenage fiancée and their baby daughter.

Police arrested Christopher Adams, a trainee pub manager from Market Inn, St Cleer, Cornwall, in Hampshire on Tuesday for the murder of 19-year-old Claire Ford and the couple’s 18-month-old daughter Charlotte, also known as Charlie.

Ms Ford and Charlotte were found dead in Trewinnick Cottage, between Rumford and St Ervan, near Wadebridge, Cornwall, on April 26. They had died as a result of receiving blows to head from a blunt instrument, post-mortem examinations revealed.

Mr Adams was remanded in custody today by Bodmin magistrates. No application for bail was made. He is due to appear at Truro Crown Court on May 13.
