Archbishop greets new Pope
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has lead representatives from the Anglican Delegation to the Vatican in a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI.
The event is one of a series of Ecumenical meetings taking place in the Vatican.
Dr Williams travelled to Rome on Saturday in time for the solemn inauguration of the new Pontificate in St Peter’s Square on Sunday morning.
Whilst in Rome, Dr Williams will also preside and preach at a Eucharist in the Anglican church of All Saints and preach at a service of Vespers for the Community of Sant’ Egidio at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Trastavere.

As Dr Rowan Williams prepares to step down in December church officials are meeting to decide who will be the new Archbishop of Canterbury. The Crown Nominations Commission (CNC) is holding a three-day meeting to select a replacement for the top job in the Church of England. Dr Williams, 61, was appointed the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury in 2002.

Archbishop criticises ‘scandal’ of global economy
The Archbishop of Canterbury has criticised the current global economy, calling it a scandal. In a speech at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 60th anniversary of the Christian Aid charity, Dr Rowan Williams said that the global economy “leaves children dying and over a billion in extreme need”.
