Police investigate link to Amelie murder

Police are investigating a possible link between a horrific hit-and-run attack on a teenage girl and the murder of French student Amelie Delagrange.

Kate Sheedy was run over by a white car, which then reversed over her in Isleworth, west London, on May 28 last year. The eighteen-year-old sustained horrendous injuries in the incident but has since managed to make a full recovery.

The attack on Ms Sheedy is the latest to be linked to the investigation into Amelie's murder, which is called Operation Yeaddiss. The 22-year-old died after being hit on the head with a heavy instrument, in Twickenham, southwest London, last August.

The murder has also been linked to four other attacks in southwest London, as well as another killing, that of 19-year-old Marsha McDonnell, who was killed in Hampton in February 2003.

In each case, the attacker has approached the women from behind. Each victim also had blonde or light brown shoulder-length hair and was out walking alone.

Yesterday it was reported that Surrey police investigating the murder of 13-year-old schoolgirl, Milly Dowler, were also investigating possible links between her murder and that of Ms Delagrange.

It has been reported that police have seized a vehicle, a white Toyota Previa, which they believe may have been used in the attack on Ms Sheedy. They are appealing for information regarding the ownership of the car, registration number K855 EFL.
