Met Office warns of more wintry weather on the way
Britain faces more wintry weather conditions ahead according to the latest Met Office forecasts.
Snow, sub-zero temperatures and ice are forecast to hit the UK next week.
The Met Office issued a statement saying that this could be "the most significant period of winter weather yet this season".
Records show that this winter had been relatively mild so far, with average temperatures across Britain measuring around two degrees Celsius above average. However, although spring is just a few weeks away, forecasters are predicting that cold and potentially snowy weather could arrive this weekend and the resulting disruption from ice and snow could last into next week.
The Met Office is advising travellers to check the latest forecasts on national and regional TV and radio, in order to keep up-to-date with the latest weather developments.
