50 injured in Hampshire coach crash

A coach crash in Hampshire today has left 50 people injured, five of them seriously, it has emerged today.

The accident occurred at around 11am this morning when the coach apparently hit the rear wheel of a tractor while travelling north on the A34 near Tot Hill, Winchester. The coach driver subsequently lost control of his vehicle and it ploughed through the central reservation into oncoming traffic. However, the coach came to a halt without colliding with any other vehicles.

It is believed that none of the coach passengers, the majority of whom were elderly, suffered life threatening injuries.

The tractor careered into a ditch trapping the driver for several hours. Emergency services are on the scene and both lanes of the A34 were closed following the incident.
