Ozzy Osbourne wrestles with burglar
Burglars have made off with a reported £1 million worth of jewellery after breaking in to the home of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.
Police have confirmed that two men stole a "large amount of jewellery" from the house in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire. Both Ozzy and his wife Sharon, who is currently appearing in ITV's 'The X Factor', were in the house when the burglars struck at 4am this morning.
Ozzy, who began his singing career with Black Sabbath in the early 1970s, tackled one of the burglars as the pair tried to make their escape. The man eventually struggled free before jumping out of the window. Police believe the man would have been injured as he plummeted over 30 feet in his bid to get away.
According to the singer's official website, Jay Marose, the Osbourne family's spokesman in the US, said that neither Ozzy nor Sharon had been hurt.
"Ozzy and Sharon were in the house. They were woken up by the incident eventually. My understanding is that the intruder was discovered in… Sharon's dressing room adjoining the main bedroom," he said.
According to reports emerging today, the Osbournes have put up a £100,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
Thames Valley Police Det Con Gill Fox has appealed for anyone in the area who may have seen a van at the time of the incident to contact him.
The man who jumped from the window is of large build, 5ft 10-11ins and was wearing a ski-mask, a light-coloured jacket and trainers. There is no description of the second man currently available.
Anyone with any information should call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
