British soldier wounded in roadside bomb attack

A British soldier has been wounded in a roadside bomb attack near Camp Dogwood today.

The soldier was injured when a Black Watch Warrior armoured personnel carrier was damaged in a roadside bomb attack whilst on patrol east of the Euphrates. The soldier was evacuated to a US military hospital in Baghdad. The extent of the soldier's injuries has not yet been released.

In a second incident, British troops escaped injury after their patrol was targeted by a suicide car bomber.

Soldiers from The Queen's Dragoon Guards, operating with the Black Watch battlegroup, were manning a vehicle checkpoint in the desert to the west of the Euphrates when the car bomber struck.

The patrol stopped two cars, and while they were searching the first vehicle, the second exploded. The Iraqi civilians in the first vehicle also escaped injury.
