Body of RAF man found after Kinloss gun drama
The body of an RAF serviceman has been recovered at an air force base in the north-east Scotland following a security alert this morning.
The body of 40-year-old Philip Herring, a flight sergeant based at RAF Kinloss, was discovered by police after the base was shut down when a man with a rifle was reported to be large. A high-powered rifle was found near the body of Mr Herring. The death is not being treated as suspicious, according to the BBC.
The base was cordoned off after the alarm was raised at 4am. Around 30 police officers were brought in to seal off the base.
More than 3,000 service personnel and civilian workers are employed at Kinloss.

Body found at RAF base is identified
The body, which was discovered at RAF Marham, King's Lynn in Norfolk, on Saturday, has been identified. The man who died was 22-year-old Corporal Mark Sellars. Mr Sellars was an RAF Policeman and was single. Norfolk Constabulary are undertaking an inquiring into Corporal Sellars' death, but have stated that there are no suspicious circumstances.

British troops fighting in the frontline are to receive new body armour and helmets this autumn, it has been announced. Over 10,000 sets of the enhanced Mark 7 helmet and the Osprey Assault body armour have been ordered from companies across the UK, under initial contracts worth around £16 million.

False Bomb Alert At Air Base
The Ministry of Defence last night confirmed a suspected bomb scare at an RAF base in south England was a false alarm. Disposal experts were drafted in to examine suspicions raised by trained sniffer dogs at the Lyneham barracks, near Swindon. The dog had reacted to suspected explosive residues on a vehicle entering the base.
