Blackpool Pleasure Beach to reopen following fire
The Blackpool Pleasure Beach complex is expected to reopen later today just hours after firefighters dealth with a blaze which damaged three rides at the attraction.
Ten fire crews were called to tackle the blaze at the Lancashire leisure complex at around 9.30pm last night. The attraction was closed at the time and no-one was injured in the blaze.
It is thought that the fire may have started in the booth for the historic Grand National Ride.
While the damage was still being assessed this morning at the venue, which has over 140 rides, but a spokesperson confirmed that three of the rides were out of action following the fire.
As well as the Grand National ride, the Trauma Towers and Alice in Wonderland rides were also damaged.
The Pleasure Beach leisure complex is expected to reopen this afternoon.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike

House Destroyed In Gas Blast
A house has been destroyed and two more badly damaged in a suspected gas explosion in Sheffield. South Yorkshire Fire Service has said the blast was reported at the property in Dundas Road shortly after 9am this morning. A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "Initial information indicates that gas is the source of the explosion.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.
