Teenage girl dies in fall at theme park

A teenage girl has died after falling more than 100ft from a ride at a leisure park in Pembrokeshire, west Wales.

Hayley Williams, 16, from Pontypool, died yesterday afternoon after tumbling from the Hydro water ride at Oakwood theme park.

A 10-year-old boy was also treated for minor head injuries after being hit by Miss Williams when she fell. He was released from hospital last night.

Police and health and safety officials have launched a probe into the death.

Oakwood park offers a number of 'white knuckle rides', of which the Hydo was one. The ride has been closed following the incident, but the rest of the park remains open.

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
