Roads agency prepares for Easter holidaymakers

The Highways Agency will keep as many lanes as possible open on England's motorways and trunk roads over Easter to help keep holiday traffic on the move, the agency has confirmed.

Road maintenance is being put on hold wherever possible, although some lane closures will be kept in place for safety reasons.

Drivers can make their journeys easier by planning their route and checking weather forecasts and travel news before they set out, the agency advised.

Information is available from the Highways Agency by phone on 08457 504030 or online at www.highways.gov.uk

An agency spokesperson added: "Drivers should also make sure their vehicle is prepared for the journey and take regular breaks on long trips."
