24 injured in acid attack on Bristol pub

Twenty-four people have been treated in hospital for injuries they received after an acid attack on a pub in Bristol in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The injured were taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Frenchay Hospitals with burns after having a suspected corrosive substance thrown over them while in the Inkerman pub in Grosvenor Road, St Paul’s, Bristol, at around 1.30am.

The majority of the victims have been released following treatment, but four are still being detained with burn injuries.

A 25-year-old woman, from Bristol, is helping police with inquiries. She has been transferred from Frenchay Hospital to a specialist burns unit outside of the Avon and Somerset police area.

The woman has been arrested at the hospital but has not been questioned or charged at this stage.
