Man held after baby is stabbed and killed

A 39-year-old man has been arrested after a 10-month old baby was stabbed and killed this morning in a busy shopping precinct in Carlisle, northern England.

The 20-year-old mother and her baby were in a bakery at around 11.30am when the attack occurred. The child suffered a slash wound to his neck and the mother received a stab wound to her wrist.

The area around the shop has been cordoned off and forensic experts are at the scene.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Missing Baby Found 'Safe And Well'

Maylayah Delaney had been reported missing by her mother shortly before lunch-time on Monday. Police have confirmed that a man from the West Midlands is helping them with their inquiries.

Father charged with baby's murder
The father of a 10-month-old baby that was stabbed and killed in a bakery in Carlisle on Tuesday has been charged with murder. Thirty-nine-year-old Shahajan Mondol Kabir will appear before Carlisle Magistrates Court today to face charges of murder and with causing grievous bodily harm to the child's mother and grandmother.

Pregnant Woman Attacked In Essex
A pregnant woman has been attacked with a baseball bat and a knife at her home in Basildon, Essex. The 22-year-old woman, who was in labour, was getting ready to leave her home with her partner to go to the hospital when a gang raided her home. She was hit with a baseball bat and slashed with a knife.

Woman And Children Hurt In Suspected Knife Attack
A man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a woman's dead body and four injured children. According to police the body of a woman (37) was found in a house on Reinwood Road, Lindley, Huddersfield.
