Woman Shot In Oxfordshire

An investigation has been launched after a woman was shot in the head in Oxfordshire, police have said.

The incident happened last night, at around 8:20pm in Abingdon 03 November.

Emergency services were called to a report of a suspected shooting of a 26-year-old woman in Thornhill Walk off Northcourt Road.

The victim suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital, where she is currently being treated.

Searches and forensic examinations are being carried out a various locations in and around Northcourt Road.

It is understood police are hunting for two suspects.

Supt Jim O'Ryan said: "Our investigations appear to indicate that this is not a random attack and the offender knew the victim.

"This is a very unusual incident for the area and officers are working hard to apprehend those responsible.

"We believe, at this stage, that there is no threat to the wider community."

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Man Who Threatened Woman With A Knife Shot Dead By Police
A man, who broke into a house in London and threatened a woman with a knife, has been shot dead by police. Officers attended an incident at a property in Islington at around 11pm on Thursday. It is believed that the man and woman knew each other. The woman was not harmed, however she is being treated for shock, according to the Metropolitan Police.

The bodies of a retired police inspector and his girlfriend have been found with gunshot wounds in Devizes. Bill Dowling, a retired police inspector with 30 years' service, and the woman who is yet to be named, where found at Moonrakers estate at around 11:00am on Saturday.

Man shot dead by police in London
Police officers in London have shot dead a man during an operation in west London, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed. The 52-year-old man, who has not yet been formally identified, was fatally wounded during the incident in Hangar Green in Ealing on Tuesday night.
