Police Hunt For Car Last Seen Twenty Years Ago
Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a classic American car last seen in 1995.
The red Ford Mustang was found to have been stolen from a garage on 15 October in Sloansway.
The theft was only discovered after the garage was checked by relatives of the owner who passed away in August.
The 1977 car, registration VTM 648S, was last seen in the garage in 1995 and could have been stolen any time in the last 20 years.
Detective Constable Geoff Smith said: "The owner of the vehicle was hugely proud of the car and it has a large amount of sentimentally attached to it.
"Obviously the car is very distinctive and, despite the length of time in which it could have been stolen during, I believe anyone who witnessed the car being removed from the garage would remember seeing it.
"I would like to speak with anyone with information about this theft as soon as possible. Equally, I would like to hear from anyone who has seen the car or been offered it for sale."
Anyone with any information about the theft should contact DC Smith via Hertfordshire Constabulary's non-emergency number 101.
