Witness Appeal Following Sexual Assault In Wolverhampton

Police have appealed for witnesses after a woman was sexually assault in Wolverhampton last week.

Wolverhampton Police have reported that a 35-year-old woman was out running in Penn on Wednesday, 28 October, when she was attacked in an alleyway off Westminster Avenue at about 17:00.

The man approached the woman from behind and covered her with some sort of material before pushing her to the ground.

Local officers are carrying out house to house enquires, examining CCTV footage and forensic examinations of the scene have taken place.

Detective Inspector Michelle Thurgood from the force's Public Protection Unit said: "We are appealing for anyone who was in or around the Penn area of Wolverhampton on Wednesday afternoon and saw anyone acting suspiciously to contact us.

"Local neighbourhood officers have stepped up reassurance patrols in the area and anyone with information should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers, confidentially on 0800 555 111.

"Investigations are at an early stage and we need people to come forward with any detail that may help trace the man responsible for the attack."

Police Seek Two Over Pub Murder
Police have released images of two men they want to question in connection with a fatal shooting. Luke Harris, 26, was shot once in the chest at the Bagot Arms Pub in Wolverhampton on 15 March this year. Mr Harris, who had two young daughters, died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

Police Renew Appeal For Information On Edinburgh Group
Police in Edinburgh have renewed an appeal for information after a 21-year-old woman was raped. The woman was attacked in Eyre Place at about 4am on Wednesday, police say. Detectives investigating the attack have said they are still looking for an Asian man, aged 20 to 30, with short dark hair.

Merseyside Police have appealed for help in tracing a man wanted in connection with a number of assaults on the same woman in St Helens. Police said the first incident occurred at about 23:00 on Sunday, 06 September when a woman was approached by a man on Nutgrove Hall Drive, Thatto Heath.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder Over Wolverhampton Double Stabbing
A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a double stabbing in Wolverhampton. Marcel Mowbray, of Eastfield Grove, is due to appear before Wolverhampton magistrates. A 57-year-old woman remains in hospital in a stable condition with wounds to her neck, while a 55-year-old man with injuries to his back has been released.

Man Arrested Over Wolverhampton Double Stabbing
A man has been arrested in Wolverhampton in connection with a double stabbing on Sunday afternoon. West Midlands Police had issued a wanted notice for 24-year-old Marcel Mowbray. He was arrested at about 13:45 in the Bushbury Lane area of Wolverhampton.
