Anthrax Confirmed on Wiltshire Farm
Public Health England (PHE) has confirmed a case of anthrax in a cow on a farm in Wiltshire.
PHE said that the case was "rapidly detected" and the animal has been incinerated. Movement restriction are also being enforced at the farm in Westbury.
Mike Wade, deputy director of health protection for Public Health England South West, said public health advice had been offered to any potential contacts.
Swansea Firm Fined Over Spam Text Messages
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has issued a fine of £200,000 to Swansea-based company Help Direct UK.
It is the second time in seven months that the firm has been censured for sending out spam text messages.
The ICO received more than 6,750 complaints in a month about the company.
Appeal Issued For Missing 12-Year-Old Boy
Police have appealed for help in tracing 12-year-old Billy O'Donoghue.
He was last seen in Deal, Kent on Wednesday, 7 October just before midnight.
He is white, of slim build with blue eyes and brown or auburn hair.
Billy is from the travelling community and has links to many boroughs. He may be in the Ilford area.
Officers are increasingly concerned for his wellbeing and would urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to call police on 101 or Missing People on 116000.

Government launches consultation on smoking proposals
The government is to begin consultation on proposals to ban smoking in most public places in England. The government hopes that the consultation will lead to a Bill being introduced in the autumn. The ‘Choosing Health’ Public Health White Paper published last November, unveiled proposals to ban smoking in all enclosed public spaces and workplaces.

UK's first SARS case confirmed
The first case of SARS in the UK has today been confirmed by the Health Protection Agency (HPA). Following lab tests, the patient has been informed of their result, however no further details are available due to confidentiality reasons.

Salmonella Outbreak In England And Wales Has Links To Cooked Meat
Investigations show that an outbreak of salmonella seen in England and Wales has links to the consumption of cooked ham bought from small independent butchers' shops. The results of tests carried out by environmental health officers on the product did not show the presence of salmonella although it did reveal other hygiene issues.
