54-Year-Old Charged With Rape Of Young Boy

A 54-year-old man has been charged with the rape of boy in 2001.

Vincent Joseph Hudson, of Loweswater Avenue, Whitehaven, has been charged with the rape of a male under the age of 16.

It is understood the charge relates to an incident that occurred in 2001.

Hudson appeared before North Cumbria Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 21 October 2015.

Detective Constable Hayley Carson said: "I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who feels they might be a victim of a sexual offence to contact us so we can investigate. Every single report is treated professionally and sensitively. Victims will be supported by specially trained officers who are experienced in dealing with these type of incidents. I would also like to reassure potential victims that their identity will not be disclosed in the public domain."

Anyone who believes they might be a victim of a sexual offence, both historical or more recent, is asked to contact police on 101.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder In Kent
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Kent. At around 7.15pm on Tuesday (19 May), police were called to a property in Hectorage Road, Tonbridge. Two men, aged 34 and 54, had sustained injuries which police believed to be knife wounds. The 54-year-old victim died at the scene. The 34-year-old was taken to hospital.

Mobile provide EE is to refund around £1m to a number of customers wrongly charged VAT between October 2012 and October 2014. It is understood that EE customers who travelled outside the EU during those dates and used internet data were affected by the charges. The company estimated it as being about 0.5% of its customers.
