Modern-Day Slavery Awareness Event Announced
A modern-day slavery awareness event is due to be held on South Cambridgeshire on Saturday 17 October, to coincide with the national anti-slavery day on Sunday.
Officers from the South Cambridgeshire policing area have invited delegates from the 105 villages in the South Cambridgeshire area.
These delegates will be attending and supporting the cause on Saturday and there hopes to be more attending on the day from the remaining villages in South Cambridgeshire.
During the summit, which will be held in South Cambridgeshire District Council Chambers, there will be a mixture of presentations, courtesy of the charity 'Unchosen' and short presentations from specialist guests including Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Graham Bright, Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) Rebecca Tipping who is the Cambridgeshire Constabulary lead for human trafficking, DCI Donna Wass who was the Senior Investigating Officer for a recent human trafficking operation in Cambridgeshire, and representatives from the Salvation Army.
Chief Inspector James Sutherland, Area Commander for South Cambs, said: "Human trafficking is more prevalent today than ever before and the number of those living at risk is growing.
"It is so important that we raise awareness of this issue in order for us to decrease the number of those at risk as much as we possibly can.
"By raising awareness of what the alarm bells are, this could help individuals recognise the signs of human trafficking so we, as a force, can intervene at the earliest opportunity to put a stop to this dreadful crime."

Increase In Knife Robberies, Statistics Show
The number of robberies involving knives rose by 18% between July and September last year, according to new figures released today. The Home Office statistics also showed that domestic burglaries rose by 4% during the same period, while fraud and forgery was up by 16%. Drug offences have also risen by 9%.

Man Arrested In Connection With Cambridgeshire Cannabis Farm
A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a cannabis farm in Cambridgeshire. Police uncovered around 75 cannabis plants at a property on Bencroft Lane, Warboys, on Monday, 26 October. The man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and is currently in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station.

Cambridgeshire Police Shooting Referred To IPCC
An investigation has been launched into the death of a man involving a firearms officer in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Police were called at about 19:45 on Wednesday 21 October to reports of concern for people in a property in Duck Lane, St Neots. Officers attended the scene and at just after 8pm a man was shot by a firearms officer.

Woman Admits Killing Three Men In Cambridgeshire
A woman has admitted murdering three men in Cambridgeshire. The bodies of Lukasz Slaboszewski, 31, Kevin Lee, 48, and John Chapman, 56, were found in ditches. Joanna Dennehey, 31, from Peterborough pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey earlier today. The bodies were discovered in March and April.
