Police Appeal After Woman Repeatedly Attacked By Same Man
Merseyside Police have appealed for help in tracing a man wanted in connection with a number of assaults on the same woman in St Helens.
Police said the first incident occurred at about 23:00 on Sunday, 06 September when a woman was approached by a man on Nutgrove Hall Drive, Thatto Heath. It is understood he asked the woman for her phone number, but when she refused he grabbed her by the throat.
The woman kicked the man, who released her and he made off towards Nutgrove MOT centre.
Two days later, at around 22:15 on Tuesday 08 September, the woman was walking along the same road when she was approached by the same man.
He again asked for her number and when she refused he struck her to the side of the body before walking off, again in the direction of Nutgrove MOT garage.
The following day, Wednesday 09 September, between 21:30 and 21:45, the woman was walking along Nutgrove Hall Drive when she was again approached by the man, who shouted at her, then punched her in the face, causing a cut lip.
The offender is described as white, approximately 20 years of age, with brown eyes and dark eyebrows. He spoke with a Liverpool accent.
On each occasion the male wore a black North Face jacket, zipped up with a hood covering his head. He was wearing black combat style pants and Adidas trainers. He also had a gold patterned ring on his right hand.
A full investigation has been launched and officers are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
Inspector Andrew Johnston said: "This was a particularly nasty series of assaults on a young woman.
"I would like to reassure people that incidents of this nature are rare and we are doing everything we can to apprehend the person responsible. We would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Nutgrove Hall Drive on the dates mentioned, or who recognises the description of the offender, to come forward."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6838 or the confidential Crimestoppers line, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
