Window Cleaners Rescued From Cleaning Platform
Two window cleaners have been rescued after being stuck in a cleaning cradle on the tenth floor of a building in central London on Wednesday afternoon.
It is understood that the two men had been trapped on the cradle for several hours before London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called at 16:17.
LFB said that the men were rescued from the platform, there were no reports of any injuries and the incident was over by 18:16.

Parliament cleaners on strike again
Cleaners in the Houses of Parliament are staging another 24-hour strike, as part of an ongoing pay dispute. Around 140 cleaners have demanded a pay increase – from £5.20 per hour to £6.70 – as well as improvements in their working conditions, including the provision of sick pay and pensions.

174 female ex-Birmingham City Council employees can go ahead with compensation claims over missed bonuses, after the council lost a court appeal. The women, which include cooks, cleaners, caterers and care staff, won a ruling over their lower pay in November 2011.

Street cleaners urged to fight crime
Street cleaners and other street workers have been urged to help fight crime by becoming the eyes and ears of a community. A report by the Audit Commission said that street workers employed by councils to observe low-level criminal activity in a community would not place an extra burden on them or the police.

Parliament cleaners receive pay rise
Cleaners at the Houses of Parliament are to receive a pay rise, after settling their long-running pay dispute. The workers' rate of pay will increase in stages from £5.20 to £6.70 per hour by next January, under the terms of a deal agreed with the Transport and General Workers Union.

Parliament cleaners prepare to strike again
Cleaners at the Houses of Parliament are preparing to hold a second strike for better pay next week. The Transport and General Workers Union said that the strike would take place on November 9. Many MPs and peers are believed to be in favour of increasing the wages of the 140 cleaners to £6.70 per hour, following a previous 24-hour strike in July.
