Investigation Launched After Body Falls From Helicopter Harness

An investigation has been launched into an incident in which a man's body fell from a helicopter harness while being recovered from a Scottish loch.

A rescue helicopter was winching the body of former University of Aberdeen chaplain Dr Bill Murdoch (64), who had drowned in Loch Fyne, Argyll, on Monday 7 September. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.

Dr Murdoch's body was being winched aboard when it slipped from the harness and fell into the water.

The Royal Navy is to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

New Atlantic 85 Lifeboat In Service In Portishead

A new Atlantic 85 class lifeboat has been officially put into service in Portishead.

The new lifeboat, named My Lady Anne, arrived in Portishead on Monday, 14 September, with the crew beginning a week of intensive training.

The Atlantic 85 class lifeboat carries four crew members, is powered by two 115hp engines and has a stronger hull and greater top speed. On board is a full suite of communication and electronic navigation aids, and the added radar allows the crew to operate more effectively in poor visibility.

Three Charged With £20,000 Biscuit Theft

Three men have been charged in connection with the theft of £20,000 worth of biscuits.

The biscuits were inside a trailer that was stolen from Burton's Food Ltd in Cwmbran on 17 June.

A 27-year-old man from the Cheshire area has been charged with three counts of theft, handling stolen goods and driving without insurance.

A 36-year-old man from the Liverpool area has been charged with two counts of theft, handling stolen goods and taking and driving away.

And a 35-year-old man from the Liverpool area has been charged with two counts of theft.

They have all been bailed to appear at Newport Magistrates Court on 29 September.

Three Teens Arrested Over GTAV Robbery
Police in north London have arrested three teenagers in connection with the violent robbery of a 23-year-old man, suspected to have been targeted for his copy of the video game, Grand Theft Auto V. The victim is understood to have been making his way home at around 1.30am on Tuesday when he was attacked.

Man Charged Over Jewellery Theft
A 35-year-old man has been charged following a theft at a jewellery shop in Aberdeen last month. It is understood the around £20,000 was taken from the Northern Diamond store on Union Street. The incident happened on 5 August. In a statement, Police Scotland said a man had since been charged in connection with the theft.

Mobile Customers To Share £1m Refund
Mobile provide EE is to refund around £1m to a number of customers wrongly charged VAT between October 2012 and October 2014. It is understood that EE customers who travelled outside the EU during those dates and used internet data were affected by the charges. The company estimated it as being about 0.5% of its customers.

Three Charged After Assault
Three people have been charged after an assault in Newcastle. It follows an incident which happened on February 11, 2012, when two men assaulted a 43-year-old man by punching him in the face inside a flat at Rosedale Court.
