Employment Up By More Than 40,000 In Three Months To July

The number of people employed in the UK rose by 42,000 in the three months to July, new figures from National Statistics Office (NSO) have revelaed.

By the end of July, total employment stood at 31.09 million, up 413,000 on the same period in 2014.

Other figures showed that 22/74 million people were working full time, up by 316,00 on last year, and 8.36 million people were working part time, up 52,000 on 2014.

In the same period, May to July, unemployment rose by 10,000, which is 198,000 fewer than in 2014.

8.99 million people aged from 16 to 64 were economically inactive – not working and not seeking or available to work – 24,000 fewer than for February to April 2015 and 65,000 fewer than for a year earlier.

Drop In UK Unemployment
Newly published figures show that UK unemployment fell by 45,000 to 2.63 million between January and March. The Office for National Statistics said the jobless rate fell to 8.2% and youth unemployment was down by 17,000 to 1.02 million.

The Office of National Statistics (ONS) has reported that the number of unemployed people in the UK rose in the three months up to November last year. The number of unemployed people in the UK is now 1.4 million, an increase of 13,000 on the last quarter. Official figures showed that the employment rate for people of working age was 74.
