Star Wars UK Release Date Brought Forward

The eagerly-anticipated Star Wars movie, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, is to be released earlier in the UK than previously announced.

The film was initially due to hit cinemas on 18 December, but it has now been moved forward by a day. The move means fans of the hit franchise will get to see the latest movie ahead of those fans in the US. However, fans in France will be able to see the movie from 16 December.

The date change was confirmed via the official Star Wars UK Facebook page and in a tweet.

The Force Awakens is the first instalment of the franchise's new trilogy. It is set 30 years after Return of the Jedi, and sees the return of Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford, alongside co-pilot Chewbacca.
